Volunteer With Kilobots
Kilobots runs on volunteers — the people who keep the arena safe, the rules fair, and the whole event running. Here’s how you can help.
Real Robots. Real Stakes. Real Energy.
Every Kilobots event runs on the people behind the scenes — watching the clock, checking the rules, keeping the arena safe, and scoring the builds. Volunteers are what make the event feel like a real competition instead of just a demo day.
Ways to Volunteer
Volunteers oversee everything from safety and rules compliance to judging and day-of event operations. Roles include:
Judge
Score robots on Engineering and Marketing — construction, robustness, creative design, team STEM showcases, and team videos.
Referee
Run matches in the arena — enforce the rules, call hits and stoppages, and keep every match fair.
Safety Advisor
Inspect robots and arenas for safety compliance and oversee safe operation throughout the event.
Event Operations
Help run check-in, pit crews, scheduling, and everything else that keeps the day moving.
Engineers, Marketers, and Industry Pros Welcome
We’d love to have working professionals — engineers, marketing and communications people, and anyone else with real-world experience — join us as judges, mentors, and advisors. Your perspective helps students see what these skills look like in a real career.
