Combat Robotics Reimagined
Get ready for an all-new season of Kilobots! This year your team gets to throw down in two tournaments — which means twice the action and twice the carnage.
What Is Kilobots?
Kilobots is a fast-paced combat robotics event for middle and high school teams, where two 1 kg, 3D-printed, radio-controlled robots face off in a three-minute showdown — each one trying to disable the other in spectacular fashion. Every bot is imagined, designed, 3D-printed, built, and driven by student teams, giving your crew full control from the first CAD model to the final hit.
Imagine
Teams start with an idea and a strategy for how their robot will compete.
Design
Ideas become CAD models — mechanical design, electronics, and weapon systems.
3D Print
Designs are printed into real, functional robot parts.
Build
Parts, electronics, and motors come together into a working robot.
Test
Teams test, break, troubleshoot, and refine before competition day.
Battle
Robots take the arena, putting months of engineering to the test.
Built For Student Teams
Kilobots is designed for middle and high school teams — no prior combat-robotics experience required. Whether your team is new to robotics or already loves to build, Kilobots gives students a reason to create, compete, and bring their ideas to life.
Middle & High School Teams
Middle and high school teams compete head-to-head in the same arena — one competition, not split into separate divisions.
Affordable & Accessible
Built to keep the cost of entry low — no expensive equipment or prior robotics experience needed to get a team on the roster.
Student-Led, Start to Finish
Adults coach from the sidelines. Every design decision and every drive is the team's own.
It’s Not Just Robots Destroying Robots
The arena is only half the season. Kilobots teams are scored across two full tracks — the engineering behind the robot, and the marketing and outreach that brings people into the sport — so a team can earn its reputation well beyond who wins the battle.
Engineering
Competition Performance — how the robot performs and places — plus Design Awards for Construction, Robustness, Creative Design, and more.
Marketing & Outreach
A Team STEM Showcase that shares who your team is, and a Team Video that shows off your robot and your story.
Build. Battle. Innovate.
Get your team ready for the next Kilobots season.
